Me, a 17 year old girl who appeared in NEET UG 2020 (September) instead of praying for good result in October was rather praying day n night for her father’s biopsy report to be alright.    And jiska darr tha vahi hogya… I had broken into pieces when I heard my father himself telling me: “doctor said it’s cancer. ”

Me as a kid used to stop my father from chewing tobacco, used to have fights, and that day this “to be doctor”  had a big regret of not doing something bigger which would have stopped dad from eating those yellow ‘nevla’ packets.💔

Our next step was finding a good doctor who could treat dad in the best possible way. We approached 2-3 renowned doctors and came to know that he will require a surgical as well as a post op. Radiation therapy treatment. (I kept blaming myself that if we had approached a good doctor earlier, radiation therapy would not have been needed.)

With God’s grace, my father underwent a successful hemi- mandibulectomy with reconstruction flap surgery.             (A skin flap from thigh and part of femur was taken as an autologous graft for reconstruction).

Dad got a big half Y-shaped incision from corner of the lip, it went through neck. (since 29 metastatic lymph nodes were detected in reports which had to be removed. )

There was an observable change in shape of dad’s face😓. (
